A. About Amex Offers

What is Amex Offers?

Amex Offers is a program that saves you money or earns you points on shopping, dining and more. You can choose offers from brands you love and get discounts in the form of statement credits on your account or as extra points added to your Membership Rewards® account.

Amex Offers is available on your americanexpress.com account within the Amex® Mobile app for iPhones and Android phones, or by connecting your Card to the Amex bot for Messenger. Simply select the offers you want to add to your Card, then use your Card to pay and see the savings or points add up on your statement. It’s easy and free for our Card Members.

Which American Express ® Cards are eligible for Amex Offers?
  • Any valid US American Express Consumer Card issued by American Express, Business Card from American Express OPEN® or registered American Express Serve® Card or Bluebird® Card is eligible to participate in Amex Offers using an americanexpress.com account.
  • Any valid US American Express Consumer Card issued by American Express and Business Card from American Express OPEN is eligible to participate in Amex Offers through the Amex bot for Messenger.

Not Eligible: American Express® Corporate Cards, American Express® Gift Cards and Prepaid Cards are not eligible to participate. Please see Program Terms & Conditions for more information.

How do I get started with Amex Offers?

There are a few ways you can get Amex Offers.

If you have an American Express Card issued by American Express, you can:

  • Log into your account on americanexpress.com and go to the “Amex Offers and Benefits” tab. If you don’t have an online account, you can create one by following the instructions at americanexpress.com. Once you create your account, new offers will appear on the “Amex Offers and Benefits” tab once you log in.
  • Download the Amex Mobile app for iPhones and Android phones and log in with the same information you use for your account on americanexpress.com. To find offers, tap the “Offers” button located at the bottom of the page.
  • Connect your Card to the Amex bot for Messenger by downloading the Messenger app on your mobile device and typing “AmericanExpressUS” into the search bar to locate the Amex bot. Then, select “Get Started” and log into your American Express online account. Once connected, type “Amex Offers” in the Amex bot conversation to view the latest offers.
Can I participate in Amex Offers with more than one American Express Card?

If you manage multiple Cards on your americanexpress.com account, only one of the eligible Cards will be able to take advantage of an offer. You can only add an Amex Offer to an eligible American Express Card once.

Who do I contact if I have questions about the program or need help?

If you have a US Card issued by American Express, you can chat with us. Go to amex.co/chatnow and log in to your American Express online account using your americanexpress.com User ID and Password and click on “Chat” to chat live with a Customer Care Professional.

If you have a Card issued by a licensed third-party financial institution or a registered American Express Serve® Card or Bluebird® Card, please call the number on the back of your Card to speak with a Customer Service Representative.

B. Adding Offers to Your Card

How do I find and add Amex Offers to my Card?

There are several different ways you can find and add Amex Offers to your Card.

Access Amex Offers through your americanexpress.com account:

  • Online: Log into your account online at americanexpress.com and click on the “Amex Offers” or the “Amex Offers and Benefits” tab. Then, select the offer you want and save it to your Card. Once you save an offer, it will no longer be available to add to other Cards associated with your online account.
  • Mobile: Download the Amex Mobile app for iPhones and Android phones and visit the “Offers” section of the app. Select the offer you want and tap “Add to Card.” If you have more than one Card, you can choose the Card to which you’d like to add the offer.
  • Amex bot for Messenger: You must first connect your Card to the Amex bot by following the steps provided for the Amex bot for Messenger in the above FAQ, “How do I get started with Amex Offers?” Once connected, type “Amex Offers” in the Amex bot conversation to view the latest offers you would like to add to your Card.

Please note: Enrollment in Offers may be limited. Offers may not be available after enrollment limits are met. Unless otherwise disclosed in individual Offer Terms, enrollment will be available until applicable enrollment limits are met and/or until 11:59 pm MST on the day the Offer expires.

In order to redeem the offer, you must make your purchase using the same Card on which you saved the offer. Although you need to add most offers to your Card, there are some offers that may require you to use a promo code at checkout or to follow a link to a merchant's website for redemption.

Hotels, car rental companies, and cruise lines do not accept prepaid cards for charges authorized in advance, even if those cards may be used to settle the final bill. Please check to make sure prepaid cards are accepted before attempting to use your prepaid card to take advantage of offers for these merchants.

I received a replacement Card. How do I re-enroll in Amex Offers?

If your Card was issued by American Express: We will automatically update your replacement Card with your information, including your offers. Any Amex Offers that you added to your Card that are still available and have not been redeemed will be automatically transferred to your replacement Card.

If your Card was issued by a third-party financial institution: Please call the number on the back of your Card.

C. Redeeming Offers

How and when will I get credit for my Amex Offer?

If you make a qualifying purchase(s) as indicated in the offer terms:

  • A statement credit will automatically appear on your Card account within 90 days after the end of the offer period.
  • Extra points will automatically appear in your Membership Rewards program account within 90 days after the end of the offer period.

If you don’t see the credit or points within these time periods, check to make sure you’ve done all of the following:

  • Added the offer to your eligible American Express Card before making your purchase(s) at the merchant
  • Made the purchase(s) with the same American Express Card to which you added the offer
  • Met the purchase requirements (purchase amount or number of purchases) required in the offer terms to receive the offer
  • Made your purchase(s) before the offer expired
  • Made the purchase(s) at an eligible location (online, in-store, participating location, etc.)
  • Have not returned or cancelled your purchase

If you have done all of the above and still don’t see the credit or points by 90 days after the end of the offer period, please contact us.

If I make a return and a statement credit or points are reversed, am I still eligible for the Amex Offer?

If you make a purchase and return the merchandise, we reserve the right to reverse the statement credit or points. If the statement credit or points have been reversed and the offer has not expired, you can still take advantage of the offer if you make another qualifying purchase and meet the offer terms.

I added an Amex Offer to my Card but used a different Card for the purchase. Will I still get the statement credit or points?

No. In order to get the statement credit or points, you must make the qualifying purchase using the same Card to which you added the offer.

I made a purchase before I added the Amex Offer to my Card. Will that purchase qualify for the statement credit or points?

No. You must add the offer to your Card first and then make your qualifying purchase using the same Card to receive the statement credit or points.

Does the purchase have to be one single purchase or can multiple purchases qualify for the statement credit or points?

All offer terms will state the purchase requirements. Some Amex Offers require a single purchase, while others require a minimum total amount spent (one or more transactions). All offers are subject to the stated offer terms. Please read them carefully. If you have questions, please call the number on the back of your Card or contact us.

Is there a maximum number of extra points I can get with an Amex Offer?

Certain Amex Offers may have caps on the maximum number of extra points available per the Membership Rewards program account. Any such caps will be explicitly stated in the offer terms and conditions. Caps will apply regardless of the total amount of purchases made in connection with the offer and will apply across any and all Cards enrolled for the offer that are linked to the same Membership Rewards program account.

Does redeeming an Amex Offer impact the rewards that I might otherwise earn for a qualifying purchase with my Card? What about finance charges?

If you make a qualifying purchase for an Amex Offer, your ability to earn other types of spend-based rewards (such as Membership Rewards) for that purchase may be based on the amount after any statement credit is applied.

If the qualifying purchase is subject to finance charges, the finance charges may accrue on the total amount of that purchase before any statement credit is applied. The balance in which the charges are assessed may include the total amount of your qualifying purchase from the date the transaction was made (i.e. without any savings from the Amex Offer being applied). You will be responsible for paying amounts due, as indicated in the terms of your agreement with your Card issuer.

What if I make a qualifying purchase in a foreign transaction?

Foreign currency charges will be converted by the issuer of your Card. When you make a qualifying purchase in a foreign currency, the applicable statement credit will be credited in your local currency using the exchange rate at the date the statement credit is applied. If you have any questions or concerns about your eligible Card account including, without limitation, foreign currency conversion, please call the number on the back of your eligible Card for assistance.
